The VAF Foundation, registered at the Frankfurt am Main with the name of VAF Stiftung, is a unique cultural project as part of figurative contemporary art, whose objective is to promote, value and make known the creations and activities of Italian art in every field of modernism, until the most recent creative contributions. The cultural exchange and the artistic dialogue between Italy and Germany - or between German-speaking countries - is a fundamental theme in the ambitious activity of VAF Foundation, which is also carried on through the borrowings of the large and precious collection from several Italian and German museums.        

The VAF Stiftung Prize is born in 2003 with the aim to promote the creative and artistic potential of the artists under 40. Over the years the prize organization boasts numerous collaborations with prominent exhibition venues, national and German, such as the Mart in Rovereto, the Museo della Permanente in Milan, the MACRO Testaccio in Rome, the Museo civico di Palazzo della Penna in Perugia, the Institut Mathildenhöhe of Darmstadt, the Künstlerhaus in Graz and the Stadtgalerie in Kiel.         


VAF Foundation Prize, X Edition

The preselection of the artists, made through the digital platform of the Foundation website for the first time, allowed to examine over a hundred applications, and after careful consideration the Scientific Board of VAF Foundation chose the names of the 13 finalists of the exhibition: among them, Valentina Diena.         

The first exhibition of the X edition of the VAF Foundation Art Prize will be held from June 15 to September 1, 2024. at the Stadtgalerie in Kiel, Germany. The exhibition will present the works of the thirteen selected finalists, including several selected artworks of Valentina Diena.         

As in the previous edition, the VAF Foundation will award a first prize worth €15,000, a second prize worth €7,500, a third prize worth €5,000. The winner of the first prize will be entitled to the acquisition of the work in competition, which will therefore be added to the amount of € 15,000, thus becoming part of the prestigious VAF Foundation Collection.
In addition to the prize for young artists, the VAF-Stiftung will also award a Lifetime Achievement Award, limited to artists documented in the Foundation’s large, encyclopedic collection of Italian art. A tribute to long-standing artists that this year will present the works in the VAF collection by Marcello Morandini, an artist, architect, designer from Varese who is one of the most important representatives of Concrete Art in Europe.         

On the occasion of the exhibition, a catalogue will be published, in a bilingual German and Italian edition.
